NanoSynex is focused on developing a rapid innovative Antimicrobial Susceptibility Test (AST). The technology is based on a purely phenotypic approach, using a microfluidic disposable test card platform and method that optimizes bacterial growth.

The design challenge was to create an intuitive and reliable diagnostic solution that integrates seamlessly into laboratory workflows. Despite the system’s complexity, the goal was to ensure a clear and flowing user experience that connects all elements, disposable test platform, hardware, and analysis software into a cohesive process.

DESIGN PROCESS
Our user-centric and research-driven approach included:
Understanding the User: Collaborating with lab technicians and microbiologists to map workflows and identify pain points.
Concept Development: Designing core components – a disposable test platform for ease of use, and compact hardware for automation.
Prototyping: Exploring numerous design and structural alternatives, which were tested and refined using 3D working models.
Seamless Integration: Ensuring all components worked together as a unified, intuitive system tailored to laboratory needs, with key considerations for speed, accuracy, and minimal training requirements.
