Treatment chair for Proton therapy
P-CURE has developed a comprehensive patient centric proton therapy solution with clinical benefits and financial advantages. Their novelty is also in the Treatment Chair, which can move towards the radiation nozzle.
One of the challenges in designing and developing the chair was to propel it using a robotic arm which would be stable, safe, comfortable and precise in its movement.
Among the client’s requirements was that the chair should be able to adjust and be customized for each and every patient.
Through user research – therapists and patients, we were able to examine the ergonomic aspects of the chair. We have built many models to test the issue of the comfort, usability, functionality and accuracy of the chair during treatment.
We also tested different composite materials to get the best material from which the treatment chair will be built.
The benefits of treating patients in the seated position include more precise proton beam delivery, better clinical outcomes, as well as greater patient comfort.
To achieve optimal and groundbreaking results, our core expertise in design and technology is integrated throughout the project. After looking in depth at the therapeutic needs required from the chair, we came to the winning conclusion of creating soft and delicate design style to create a comfortable feeling while sitting in the treatment chair.
In the engineering process we performed strength analyzes for heavy weights and calculations of strength to the tenths of a millimeter accuracy.
The strength of the material allows for different stable postures of the patient.
We chose composites materials that are transparent to radiation.
THE FINAL PRODUCT
An ergonomic, innovative treatment chair, tailored to users, made of composite materials adapted to the conditions of treatment and allowing extremely accurate treatment.
